Ok..This is the Greatest Dunk of All-Time

3 Comments, tags: Sports News

I used to think that Vince Carter jumping over the 7′2″ French guy in the Olympics was the greatest dunk ever. Well, it has been surpassed. Is this dunk even humanly possible? Apparently so.

After grabbing a rebound, “The Main Event” fired a long pass down to a wide-open Fontenette. After taking a few stutter steps, Fontenette jumped into the air, did two complete 360-degree turns and slammed the ball.

I was stunned. The crowd was speechless. Even the players on the court didn’t know how to react.

“I’ve been planning that dunk for two years,” Fontenette said, unable to wipe the smile off his face. “That was the first time I had ever done it on a 10-foot goal. I’ve done it on a 9-and-a-half before, but never a 10-foot.”

Dwyane “My Parents Spelled My Name Wrong” Wade

22 Comments, tags: Sports News

In the wake of perhaps the worst officiated final play in NBA history, I had to get some things off my chest. Here is a quick summary of how I saw things go down in the final seconds:

  1. Dwyane (sp? oh wait, for some stupid reason that is really how you spell his name) Wade leaves his feet in the front-court, catches the ball in the air, and lands fully in the back-court.
  2. Dwyane (sp? My knee hurts. Wait, let me drive to the lane and dunk. Wait, my knee hurts again) Wade proceeds to get triple-teamed. He thinks in his head, “Oh wait, I have been getting Jordan-esque calls all game, why not drive to the lane and yell and throw up some junk layup.” Mission accomplished. Three Mavs hustle and play great defense, yet Wade is the one who gets “rewarded” with the call.
  3. Avery Johnson is trying to tell Josh Howard to take a time-out after the second free throw. Josh is LOOKING DIRECTLY at Avery and motioning with his hands to see if he should take a time-out. Not one word is spoken to a referee. Somehow the refs make the Mavs waste their last time-out, sealing the game for the Heat.

How can anyone really take the NBA seriously anymore? The NBA has become a joke. What has happened in the playoffs is the exact type of thing that will make me and other fans tune-out the NBA next season and for seasons to come. Even if the Mavs somehow win the Title, I have lost all respect for the NBA.

Update: Now with video proof of the back-court violation.

I AM A NOWITZNESS. Support Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. Let people know you are a ‘nowitzness’ to those mind bending court skills.

The Greatest Dunk of All-Time

2 Comments, tags: Misc.

In honor of the Olympics (even though it is just the winter Olympics), I wanted to share what I think is the greatest dunk of all-time. I mean this is just ridiculous. Vince Carter jumps over some dude from France who is 7′2″. Maybe there is some truth to the old rumor of him once having a 52″ vertical.

Babe of the Week: 2/13/2006

3 Comments, tags: Babe of the Week, notes: NSFW

Well, it is that time again, another edition of actionBERG’s Babe of the Week. I know it has been a while, but trust me, this is well worth the wait.

Ever heard of a chick with a 42″ inseam whose day-job is being a pro-wrestler? Well, if you have been watching “Dance With the Stars”, then you know who I am talking about. When I had first seen her, I had now idea who she was, and apparently I have been missing the boat on this one. Just this coming month she will be in Stuff Magazine.

If you don’t know about Tucker Max, I highly recommend taking a look at his site. They are some of the funniest stories you will ever read. And if you are a fan of Tucker Max, you will be glad to know that he has finally released his new book. You can pick it up over at Amazon, and amazingly enough he is even on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Here is a cool video of the top 5 craziest goals that have happened in soccer. They basically involve craziest with the ball bouncing off of the goal post. I wasn’t a big fan of #2, but #1 is just ridiculous. You have to see it.

Worst Official Call of All-Time?

Polamalu Interception: Worst Official Call of All-Time?

I wish I could find some video of it, but I am assuming most of you by now have seen Polamalu’s interception on Sunday against the Colts that was somehow overturned by the officials. The more I see that play, the more it really makes me think that it could be the worst call by an official that I have ever seen. Even worse than the infamous “Tuck Rule.”

I think what took them so long watching the replay is that the official was making up a new rule right there on the spot and wanted to make sure he had his facts straight. If you haven’t seen it, check out SportsCenter. And let me know what you think…because I just don’t see how it was overturned.

Someone else has decided to take the USC 1-Peat idea to a whole other level. Steve over at OnePeat.com is now accepting donations in order to put up a billboard with basically the same idea I mentioned a few days ago. Good stuff.

Vince Young to Enter NFL Draft

4 Comments, tags: Sports News

Well, it is official, Vince Young will be entering the 2006 NFL Draft. I just listened to the press conference, and while I agree it is probably the best decision for him, it is still sad to finally hear it. It looks like now we will turning over the reigns to either Colt McCoy or Jevan Snead. It will interesting to see where we are ranked now going into next season.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Vince Young has scheduled a press conference for 3pm today and will announce he is headed for the NFL. Young will reportedly sign with Steve McNair’s agent Bus Cook.

Obviously disappointing news for Longhorn fans but probably the best decision for Vince. His stock is about as high as anyone’s could get right now and he’s probably got a chance for some endorsements coming off his legendary Rose Bowl performance. Also, the hometown Houston Texans are drafting number one overall and his mentor McNair’s Tennessee Titans are sitting at number three. I think things are setting up for him to head to the Titans and spend a year or two learning under McNair (who is unsigned but looks close to completing a deal) while he finishes up his career.

Rose Bowl Game Day Pictures

Well, this is where I have been for the last week. We traveled to Vegas (of course) and then headed down for the game. We took plenty of pictures, but these are some that I thought were cool. Vegas wasn’t too kind, but Texas winning was enough for me. Hook ‘em…

Babe of the Week is Moving

3 Comments, tags: Misc.

Update: Nevermind, Babe of the Week is no longer moving. It will be staying right here, so don’t worry. Who was I kidding anyway? Now that I am back from watching Texas win the National Championship, everything will return to normal.

I know, you are all so sad, but you really shouldn’t be. I am only moving my Babe of the Week posts over to my new site, Berugu.com. There you will find my weekly Babe of the Week posts as well as some other interesting stuff. My goal is to try to take this site more seriously and concentrate really only on gambling related topics.

I think I am starting off my new site pretty solid with Diana Poth, so if you haven’t seen her yet, head over there now and check it out. It is worth, trust me.
